Embedded Linux Developers (Contractor / Part-Time / Full-Time)
Multiple roles at different experience levels - remote, Melbourne, Salt Lake City

As an embedded linux developer at Galactic Bioware, you will be part of the engineering team for our Fire Knight powered suit. The Fire Knight is the future of firefighting suits  

You will work with a variety of high performance fibres and materials, mechanical systems, life support systems, cameras, data and communications systems to help firefighters perform at the highest level in unprecedented safety.

You will have experience in:

  • Embedded C/C++ coding on microcontrollers using the following OS (Bare metal, FreeRTOS and embedded Linux)
  • Ability to read and understand electronic schematics
  • A curiosity-driven approach to solving completely original problems - an natural attitude to “just work it out”
  • (Preferably) experience with voice control (speech-to-text) engines such as DeepSpeech and/or machine learning platforms like TensorFlow

Chemical Engineer (Contractor / Part-Time / Full-Time)
Multiple roles at different experience levels - based in Melbourne, Victoria

As a chemical engineer at Galactic Bioware, you will work in a generalist capacity with our design and engineering team to develop and improve materials and processes for performance fabrics used in high heat, flame, blast, high-impact collisions and in ballistics/stab/spike resistance.

You will also be involved in thorough laboratory testing and working to certifications such as:

  • National Institute of Justice - Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor (NIJ Standard-0101.06)
  • Federal Aviation Administration - Emergency landing dynamic conditions (CFR 25.562)
  • Standards Australia and Standards New Zealand - Protective clothing for firefighters Requirements (AS/NZS 4967:2019)

You will work with propellants (e.g. azides, nitrates) used in airbag systems and work with simulation and deceleration sled test data and imaging to design, refine and test our Velociraptor airbag systems.

Industrial Sewing Machinist (Contractor / Part-Time / Full-Time)
Multiple roles - based in Melbourne, Victoria

As a sewing machinist at Galactic Bioware, you will be part of the manufacturing team for our 2021 Casual Collection. You will work with a variety of high performance fibres and materials, and help make our casual protective clothing available to people who live in fear, dangerous areas or travel to areas that they do not feel fully comfortable. Successful candidates will have experience in pattern-making, clothing construction principles, sewing machines, cutting and efficient sewing practices. Experience with leather sewing machines is a bonus.
